God certainly had a sense of humor when he called a guy like me into pastoral ministry. My working career began with great plans to climb the corporate ladder with a focus on technology. Seven years into not for profit management and God opened a door I never thought I’d be walking through - looking after the ministering needs of two congregations. However, after 22 years of pastoring I cannot think of anything else I would rather do. Getting to share life with people–some of their most exciting moments such as weddings, baptisms, rejoicing over answered prayers, as well as some of the most difficult times like losing a loved one, health issues, relationship struggles–is one of the aspects I cherish most about pastoring people. I am so appreciative when I get to participate with Jesus by learning a person’s story and then helping them see how their story is an important part of Jesus’ bigger story.  

My beautiful, red headed wife and four kids do a wonderful job of keeping me humble. They might actually be a bit too good at it! Having grown up in the U.S., the tradition of inviting lots of people over for a Thanksgiving celebration and making them feel at home is how I feel about the Warragul Church of Christ. This congregation reflects that tradition of making anyone who comes feel like they are at home. For me, this congregation feels like home away from home, and one that I want everyone to experience for themselves as well.
